History
In 2002, Fox Wolf Watershed Alliance began exploring the creation of an organization to assist local and county governments in cooperative efforts to address stormwater management. The Northeast Wisconsin Stormwater Consortium (NEWSC) was created as a result. In 2004, NEWSC received $16,000 in grants from the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, Inc. and the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation. These grants allowed NEWSC to incur administrative costs and hire a coordinator.
At a September 20, 2004 meeting, NEWSC developed by-laws and elected officers. In addition, four working committees were created to address the six minimum control measures required by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
The NEWSC organization was the result of the efforts of representatives from the following agencies, nonprofit organizations, area communities, and businesses:
